About

I am originally from Wethersfield, Connecticut. I began studying the piano at the age of 6. I continued with private piano instruction continuously through my time as an undergraduate at Bryn Mawr College. I gained accomplishment in Classical, Popular, and Broadway piano. I additionally studied oboe continuously from the age of 12 to the age of 18. I worked as a piano accompanist and as an oboist in professional situations as a teenager. At the same time I taught myself to play the guitar and to sing. I was a vocal soloist and piano accompanist in school choral concerts as well as a member of the school orchestra, band, and marching band(playing cymbals). After college, I learned to play the banjo and performed many styles of music with acoustic and electric guitar, banjo, and voice in groups and freelance including country, rock, jazz, folk, and pop.  I moved to New York and studied jazz piano and improvisation. I have worked freelance and with bands in classical, rock, society, jazz, world, R&B, dance, and event music. I have run a production company and recording studio and have been a freelance studio musician, composer, arranger, and producer. I am a singer-songwriter with 2 CDs, one of which produced 2 top ten regional radio hits and a Best New Artist AC/Hot AC nomination. I have been teaching piano since the age of 13 and have been teaching piano full time since 1999 along with voice, guitar, and music theory.  I am also a certified 200-hour yoga instructor and have studied Alexander Technique. I bring all of my experience to my work as a music teacher.
